Aircheck Season 3 Premiere...
Rock Radio veteran Dave Kane/Kane-O retired from a 40+ year storied career on April 2, 2021. Dave rocked 40 of those years from one radio station, WCMF/Rochester, New York.
Kane-O is a 1979 graduate of SUNY Brockport, and has been recognized by the college as a “Communicator of the Year” as well as a Communications Department “Alumni of the Year.” In 2018, Kane received SUNY Brockport’s “Outstanding Service Award,” and in September 2019, he was inducted into the WBSU Hall of Fame at SUNY Brockport. Dave was also honored with a “Special Merit Award” during the induction of WCMF into the Rochester Music Hall of Fame in 2019.
Rich and Paul talk with Dave about being at one radio station for four decades. Dave shares a few of his rock star interviews along the way including Tony Iommi, Carmine Appice, Lou Gramm, and a “smoking story” with David Lee Roth. His stories also include when he first went on the air at an Easy Listening station, to how he got his start at the mighty WCMF. Dave also mentions what it was like going on the air that last day, and how he crafted the song list for his final show. We also find out what he may, or may not be up to, in his new life.
